The questions it asks, in order

Built from how electrical calls really go. Every question has a reason, and it skips anything the caller already said.

Quick mode (burning smell / sparking, #1 call):

  1. "Thanks for calling business_name. Do you see smoke, fire or flames right now?" If yes: "Please get everyone out and call 911 now."
  2. "Is there a burning smell, sparking, or an outlet or switch that's hot to touch?"
  3. "Can you safely reach your breaker panel without touching anything wet or hot?" If yes: "Please switch off the breaker for that area. If you're not sure which one, it's OK to turn off the main."
  4. "Is anyone in the home on medical equipment that needs power?"
  5. "What's the address?"
  6. "Best number to text?"
  7. "Our emergency visit is after_hours_fee. Want me to send on_call_name now?"
  8. Read-back: "Burning smell at address, breaker {off/on}, callback phone. Text coming now. If you see smoke, call 911."

White Glove:

  • "You did the right thing calling. Let's make sure everyone's safe first."
  • "Can you tell me which room, and when you first noticed it?"
  • "Is there anything plugged into that outlet, like a space heater? Please unplug it only if the plug isn't hot."
  • Full read-back with fee, window, and "please don't use that outlet until the electrician checks it."

Calls it handles

  1. Burning smell, sparking, hot outlet/switch, buzzing panel - Emergency. Safety script, alert on-call, emergency booking.
  2. Power out in part of the house / breaker keeps tripping - Agent asks: whole house or part? Neighbors out too? Reset breaker once? Whole house + neighbors out = utility. Partial = book service call; urgent if it affects heat, medical devices or fridge with medicine.
  3. Whole house power out - Check neighbors/utility first; if only them, possible main/service issue, urgent book.
  4. Panel upgrade / service upgrade quote (often for EV, heat pump, remodel, insurance request about Federal Pacific/Zinsco panel) - Books estimate; captures panel brand and amp size if known.
  5. EV charger install - Captures car make, charger owned or not, garage location, panel amps. Books estimate or sends photo link.
  6. Generator (install quote, won't start, maintenance) - Captures brand/model; during outages, prioritizes per owner rules.
  7. Lights flickering / dimming - Asks: one light, one room, or whole house? Whole house flicker = urgent (possible loose service neutral). Books.
  8. Install requests (fixtures, fans, outlets, GFCI, recessed lights, smoke detectors) - Books regular slot.
  9. Storm damage (service mast pulled off, tree on line) - Downed-line safety; tell caller utility handles lines on poles; electrician repairs mast/meter base. Urgent book.
  10. Inspection / real-estate repair list - Captures closing date and inspector report; books.
  11. Existing job / warranty / permit inspection scheduling - Looks up job, routes.

Safety comes first

Emergency: smoke/fire, burning smell, sparks or arcing, hot or melted outlets/switches/panel, buzzing panel, whole-house flicker, water in or near panel, someone shocked, downed lines, service mast ripped off, total power loss with medical equipment or extreme heat/cold.

  • Fire or smoke: "Get everyone outside and call 911 now. Don't try to put out an electrical fire with water."
  • Someone shocked: "Don't touch them if they're still touching the source. Turn off the power if you can do it safely. Call 911 now." Do not continue booking. (Mayo Clinic)
  • Downed line: "Treat it as live. Stay at least 35 feet away, keep kids and pets back, and call 911 or utility_name at utility_phone. Don't drive over it." (Puget Sound Energy)
  • Water in or near panel: "Don't touch the panel or walk through standing water near it. Stay out of that area."
  • Whole neighborhood out: "That sounds like a utility outage. Please report it to utility_name at utility_phone. If your power stays off after the neighbors' comes back, call us."
  • Generator CO: If a portable generator is running and someone feels sick or a CO alarm sounds: "Get everyone outside and call 911 from outside." (CPSC)

Alerts: SMS + call to on-call; owner if no acknowledgment in ack_minutes. Fire/shock/911 calls: owner FYI text with transcript.

What it will never do

  • Never coach a caller to open a panel, remove covers, test wires, or do any electrical work
  • Never say something is "safe" or "probably fine"; only the electrician decides
  • Never give code or permit rulings; never say a permit isn't needed
  • Never promise utility reconnect times; the utility controls the meter and service drop
  • Never take card numbers by voice; Stripe link only (PCI DSS)
  • Marketing texts only with consent; honor STOP (TCPA)
  • Never deny being an AI; give recording notice in two-party-consent states
