The questions it asks, in order

Built from how roofing calls really go. Every question has a reason, and it skips anything the caller already said.

Quick mode (active leak, #1 call):

  1. "Thanks for calling business_name. Is water coming in right now?"
  2. "Is the ceiling sagging or bulging anywhere?" If yes: "Please keep everyone out from under that spot. It could come down."
  3. "Is water near any light fixtures, outlets or the electrical panel?" If yes: "Please stay away from that area and don't touch the fixture. If you can reach the breaker from a dry spot, switch that circuit off."
  4. "Please don't go up on the roof. Can you put a bucket under the drip and move valuables away?"
  5. "Was this from a storm? About what date?"
  6. "Do you plan to file with insurance, or have you already?"
  7. "What's the address? Best number to text?"
  8. "I can get you on the emergency tarp list for tarp_window. tarp_price_text. Want me to?"
  9. Read-back: "Leak at address, {storm/no storm}, claim {yes/no}, tarp requested. Text coming."

White Glove:

  • "I'm sorry, a leak during a storm is no fun. Let's keep you and your home safe first."
  • "Taking photos of the damage inside and out from the ground is a good idea for your records."
  • "Keep any receipts for buckets, tarps or hotel stays. Your insurance company may ask for them."
  • Full read-back with inspection time, inspector name, and what to expect.

Calls it handles

  1. Active roof leak - Wants it stopped. Agent: safety (ceiling bulge, water near electrical), interior protection tips, books emergency tarp/repair or alerts on-call.
  2. Storm damage inspection (hail, wind, missing shingles, tree on roof) - Captures storm date, visible damage, claim status. Books inspection.
  3. Replacement estimate (old roof, selling home, insurance non-renewal) - Captures roof age, type, stories, timeline. Books estimate.
  4. Insurance claim help - Captures carrier, claim number, adjuster name/date. Books inspection or adjuster meeting per owner policy.
  5. Repair (flashing, missing shingles, skylight leak, chimney) - Books repair visit.
  6. Gutter / attic ventilation / skylight - Books per services list.
  7. Price shopping ("how much per square") - Explains inspection-first; gives any approved ranges. Books.
  8. Real-estate roof certification / inspection - Captures closing date and agent. Books.
  9. Existing job (start date, crew arrival, dumpster, nails in driveway, warranty leak) - Looks up job; warranty leaks flagged.
  10. Commercial / HOA / property manager - Hand to owner.

Safety comes first

Emergency: active leak; sagging/bulging ceiling; water near electrical; tree or limb on roof or through it; large section of roof missing; fire damage to roof; downed lines touching the house.

  • Roof safety: "Please don't climb on the roof, especially wet or in wind. We'll handle it." (NRCA strongly urges owners not to attempt repairs themselves: NRCA.)
  • Sagging ceiling: "Keep everyone out of that room. Don't poke it."
  • Tree through roof / structural: "If you hear cracking or the structure looks unsafe, get everyone out and call 911."
  • Downed lines: "Treat any downed wire as live. Stay at least 35 feet away and call 911 or utility_name." (Puget Sound Energy)
  • Mitigation: Policyholders are generally expected to prevent further damage, e.g. covering a roof hole, and to keep receipts (NerdWallet). Agent may say this as general info, not coverage advice.

Alerts: active leak/tree/structural = SMS + call to on-call; storm-day surge = batch summary to owner every batch_minutes.

What it will never do

  • Never promise insurance will pay, say damage is "covered," or advise on claim strategy (unlicensed public adjusting; e.g. Texas Ins. Code 4102.163; Iowa has fined roofers for it per Iowa Insurance Division)
  • Never offer to waive, rebate or "cover" the deductible (illegal in Texas, Bus. & Com. Code 27.02)
  • Never offer assignment of benefits in Florida; post-2023 residential policies can't assign benefits (SB 2-A: Jimerson Birr)
  • Never tell a caller to go on the roof
  • Never quote a full replacement price not on the sheet
  • Never take card numbers by voice; Stripe link only (PCI DSS)
  • Marketing texts only with consent; honor STOP (TCPA)
  • Never deny being an AI; recording notice in two-party-consent states
